The Peer Specialist LLC is a community-based service that provides mental health and behavioral health support services to BIPOC and underserved communities in Greater Los Angeles and surrounding counties. Our services cover a wide range of supportive services, such as community engagement events, community outreach, group talk therapy, one-on-one talk therapy, one-on-one active listening sessions, 90 days of evidence-based peer support, life skills supportive services, service bridging, and resource navigation.
Peer Specialists are people who have been successful in the recovery process and assist others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer specialists assist people to stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse in any form or fashion. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process.
How do you build a culture of competence, care, and accountability?
As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, Divinity is a Role Model of recovery and became a change she wanted to see in her community. Divinity Warmsley helps organizations and individuals answer these questions through executive coaching, staff training, team-building, community outreach, community engagement events, and needs assessments. With more than 20 years of experience in non-profit mental and behavioral health, Divinity’s career has been dedicated to understanding trauma, supporting personal and collective transformation, and creating new possibilities for her community.
An enthusiastic Professional Life Artist and Wellness and Recovery Facilitator, Divinity has supported youth and adults experiencing mental and emotional challenges with intentional solution-focused support to assist individuals with stabilizing their lives and moving toward healing. First as a program coordinator, and eventually as CEO of Wallace Arts Foundation, Divinity oversaw developing and implementing culturally responsive arts education programs in the Los Angeles Unified School District and with Parks and Recreation in the Greater Los Angeles Area. As a founding member of the Reachers Club, Divinity dedicated over 3000 volunteer outreach hours to building community and relationships through dialogues and events focused on important social issues. Divinity is a Park Equity Leader and has worked with the LA neighborhood Land Trust to create, promote, and use green spaces specifically in communities of color. Divinity is also a tireless community leader, spearheading efforts to create peer support networks, holistic healing events, and bold safe spaces to have community dialogue in the BIPOC community. Divinity never ceases to imagine innovative ways to meet needs and fill gaps wherever she encounters them.
